AbstractAs a result of the trend towards lightweight construction in sustainable manufacturing, there has been a significant increase in the use of clinched joints in engineering structures and components. Mechanical structures assembled by clinching are expected to possess a high damping capacity. The aim of this paper is to provide an experimental measurement technique for the investigation of the forced vibration behavior of clinched joints. The dynamic test software and the data acquisition hardware were used in the experimental measurement of the dynamic response of the clinched joints. The frequency response functions of the clinched joints of different clinching point number were measured and compared

The final publication is available at link.springer.comBook title: Multi-Objective Machine LearningIn this chapter recent research in the area of multi-objective optimisation of regression models is presented and combined. Evolutionary multi-objective optimisation techniques are described for training a population of regression models to optimise the recently defined Regression Error Characteristic Curves (REC). A method which meaningfully compares across regressors and against benchmark models (i.e. ‘random walk’ and maximum a posteriori approaches) for varying error rates. Through bootstrapping training data, degrees of confident out-performance are also highlighted

Anomalous magnetoresistance oscillations and enhanced superconductivity in single-crystal Pb nanobelts

Using atomically flat single-crystal Pb ultrathin films grown on Si(111) substrate by molecular beam epitaxy, we fabricated Pb nanobelts of 28 atomic monolayers thick, 285nm wide, and 10 um long by focus ion beam technique. The transport property is measured and the results are compared to the Pb films. We find that below the superconducting transition temperature TC, the resistance of the nanobelts exhibits clear and reproducible oscillations as a function of perpendicular magnetic field, which are not observed in the Pb films. In addition, TC enhancement was also observed in the nanobelts. The results suggest that the single-crystal Pb nanobelts prepared on Si semiconductor substrate offer a great opportunity for integrating superconducting circuits in a single Si chip.Peer reviewedPhysic
